Beginning of Something Awful

tsundere-model:

“Depends for what, but no one remembers everything all the time. And if you understand the how you can always get back to the knowledge in itself” he explained in a bored tone shaking his head from one side to the other.

Whether the crybaby -Kyouhei- accepted the suggestions or not, had nothing to do with Izumi. He just did his part in bringing up the possibilities that the boy was missing, but only Kyouhei could help himself.

“Hah? What kind of person would leave a crying guy on his own? Do i look like a fucking demon to you or something?” he retorted angrily, an eyebrow crooked and lips pursed together “It’s just normal so don’t think too much of it.”

He bit the inside of his cheek slightly, uncrossing and crossing again his legs, blue eyes checking the black of his own boots for a moment before looking back up at the guy.

“So, are we exchanging contact info or something? You don’t have to if you don’t want to, but it’d be better for my mental sanity to know you won’t be causing problems to others. I can spare some time for you every now and then if you so want it.”

A very roundabout way of saying he’d be willing to come and talk whenever the brunet wanted to.

Even though he knew the question was rhetorical, Kyouhei couldn’t help but consider Izumi’s ‘demon’ question. The color of his hair and eyes, if they were natural, gave him a supernatural look, and his… holier-than-thou attitude spoke of something, for certain. Wasn’t Lucifer the prettiest angel before he fell, or something?

Kyou was smart enough to keep this thought to himself, though.

He startled out that train of whatever and stared disbelievingly at Izumi, who was offering to exchange info in a roundabout way? Honestly, it almost felt like the brunet was arranging for someone to babysit him at a later date.

image

… do you want to punch your number into my phone? Or you could just leave um, some social media thing in the notes. Kyou unlocked his phone and swiped to the screen containing the ‘contacts’ and ‘notes’ apps, then held it out to the silver-haired student.

I wouldn’t mind seeing you again in a situation less embarrassing on my part. No doubt you would too? That wasn’t- he grimaced, realizing that a lot of conscious effort would have to be put into repressing that particular memory, ideal.

florasions:

Avery may not have been a super rare name, but Kyouhei’s in its entirety definitely was. There were no doubts about it now. This was him. This was definitely him! Clapping his hands together, the photographer couldn’t help but let out a bark of laughter – two parts amusement and one part total disbelief.

“What are you doing here?”

The recognition and wonder in his voice should have been enough to answer Kyouhei’s question.

image

“Do I really look the same?” He couldn’t quite tell if that was a good or a bad thing. “You haven’t changed a bit!”

Kyouhei jumped involuntarily at the characteristically sharp laughter of his (now confirmed) childhood friend. God, wouldn’t’ve been embarrassing if he’d been mistaken? That would’ve been the worst.

He cleared his throat slightly before speaking again, trying to brush away and last remnants of his awkward uncertainty about the situation.

image

Oh yeah, you look uh… the shape of your eyes and most of your face is the same, dude. Your hair threw me off, though. Why am I… here as in, um, Akounri or here, he gestured around, in particular?

Assistance Wanted [Kyouhei]

friendlyneighbourhoodscientist:

“I am…”

At the mention of the poster he had just put up not so long ago, Komui’s interest was caught and he carefully examined the young student in front of him. He didn’t look familiar, certainly wasn’t in any of his classes anyway and if the scientist had ever spotted him on campus before, then he had forgotten.

Truth be told, even if it was their first time meeting, he was still glad to have a volunteer who showed such enthusiasm although he couldn’t help but wonder if the student knew what he would be in for.

Komui wanted to say yes then and there but even if no other volunteers were forthcoming, he should at least suggest a trial period to see if the arrangement was suitable for the both of them. As happy as he was to have an assistant, he should at least give the other an opportunity to change his mind.

image

“How about this, you can be my assistant for a week to see how you find it. If you’re happy to remain as such after that, then the position is yours”

Kyouhei let out an internal sigh of relief at the revelation that he hadn’t just eaten up the time of someone uninvolved completely, and thanked Lady Luck for once in his life, instead of cursing her.

Still, business was still technically going on, so he tried curbing the childish excitement being right wrought in him.

image

Seems agreeable to me! The brunet thrust his hand forward, feeling rather self-assured after his burst of uplooking luck. A pleasure to work with you… for this week, that is! My name is Kyouhei.

Route To Everywhere

mismatcheddoll:

Mika was suddenly thrown off pace when the other stopped his whole motion -and intention to start a fight- in order to coo at Mika’s very own companion.

The Mimikyu, as terribly shy as his owner, proceeded to recoil over itself, head dropping slightly by the side and whole body retreating over to Mika’s legs in seek of protection.

image

“Whaddaya care where i found ‘em?” he asked defensively, a dramatic frown as he tried to act tougher for the sake of his scared little friend “And ‘course they’re in top notch! They’re my best friend, ’course I had to take care of ‘em”

The sound of fabrics rustling made double colored eyes look up and check the Pokemon that was now eyeing him suspiciously. Now, he couldn’t deal with people, but Pokemon were a completely different story.

“Howdy~yer a pretty one, ain’tcha?”

Oh crap, did Kyouhei accidentally insinuate something bad? He only meant- well, he’d explain and all would be well… hopefully, at any rate. The brunet took a deep breath and smiled upwards, trying to make himself seem like less of a threat.

Sorry, I just meant- not a lot of Pokemon do well out of their natural habitat. I didn’t mean to imply you didn’t care about them or weren’t a good caretaker.

image

The sight made his heart warm, actually, because he’d had to switch out a lot of his old team for health reasons when he left for Sinnoh, only daring to bring his Superior along.

Kyouhei watched with interest the change in the other trainer’s expression as his main popped out their head, and he gave them a small scratch just behind their head to calm them down.

Would you like to hold them? Ivvy likes being held by people, as you can probably guess. Just a big flesh noodle. As if to agree with Kyou, Ivvy (the Superior) gathered themselves up onto the top of his shoulders and craned their head closer to the other trainer.

I’m Kyouhei - Kyou! He quickly changed his tune, remembering that he was trying to be lowkey and not gather attention to himself. Call me Kyou. Nice to meet you…?

biological theory

wild-untamed-heart:

Kajika stared at the vampire in front of her nonchalantly, paying no heed to the somewhat sly look that could be found in eyes of burgundy. Her own silver orbs were filled with determination, her stubborn streak preventing her from backing out now that she had come this far.

She was tired of being rebuffed by her childhood friend for the simple reason that he was a vampire. Why it bothered him so much when it didn’t concern her in slightest was a mystery, yet she hoped that through the research she would be undertaking with this particular vampire that she could resolve the problem.

At the very least, she would be learning more about vampires…

Kajika nodded her head once, her mouth set in a serious line as she replied.

image

“Count me in.”

“Y-a-y~⭐” Kyouhei could nearly hear the ‘assistant acquired’ achievement playing in the background and gave an enthusiastic spin for good measure. “Your willingness to help a new pal out is duly noted, Miss Kajika!”

Of course, there were still a few details that would have to be beaten out before they could do anything too tricky, but at least now he was making some decent progress.

image

“Since you are the human in this situation and the last thing I need is for you to not trust me, your employer, where would you like to make this deal more official?” Kyou held out his hands in a welcoming, open gesture.

“I mean the whole shindig: paperwork, my oath as a sire, all of that. We also need to set up some rules and boundaries, most likely, so we know what to expect from each other. You still in? If so, where do you say we should go!”

The brunet vampire could always lead her back to either his lab, or even to his flat, but in the end, it was up to her. This needed to be completely consensual on her part; one of those pesky, soul-bound vampiric laws demanded it.

“Ah…”

Yuusuke can only stare at the ball in the higher shelf, a little bit disappointed that he couldn’t grab the ball which he wanted. His eyes starts to wonder around, until he grabbed somebody’s hand.

“Hey! Can you help me to get that ball?”

There was already a jump of nervous energy in Kyouhei’s step before a stranger grabbed him and asked for his help; long story short he’d never made such an embarrassing high-pitched noise in his life.

“What-what?” Fair-haired and with a face without fear, this person, uninhibited by anything that would stop him from asking help, now had his full attention. Was probably the first thing to have his full attention all day.

“… a ball?” On cue, the brunet turned his head to the side and looked up, examining the selection of colorful balls (he couldn’t tell if they were plastic or bouncy or if there was even a difference) with mild confusion.

image

“Uh, probably… probably not.” He was taller than this guy but not by much - not by enough to count. “I could try giving you a lift if you wanted?”

“Life Savior? Me? Haha!”

theshadowjjang:

Dongmin was a pretty nonchalant guy on top of being pretty dense. He was just being honest, and wasn’t thinking too much about his words. He didn’t realize how embarrassing he was making things for his friend. He wouldn’t get it unless Kyouhei explicitly said so most likely.

“Hm? Is it wrong for people to think that I like you when I do?” What, did it have to be a secret that they were friends? Some guys could be pretty sensitive when it comes to things like that, huh? He didn’t see Kyouhei to be that type though, the ones who worry too much about having a manly appearance to the public eye. There was nothing wrong with admitting you were really good friends with someone right?

Alas, he digresses. He simply shrugged his shoulders, totally letting the warning fly overhead. “Sounds good, hanging out that is. Wonder what we should do?” He was thinking about it but nothing really was coming to mind at the very moment.

image

He was still thinking when Kyouhei spoke up again, though it was more like he was shouting something. Perhaps he was trying to defend himself somehow? Did he feel like he had to? There was nothing that Dongmin felt that needed any explanation. “I guess so? Though some people like to be extravagant with it and show it off. I’m okay with either, really.” He was pretty easy going about a lot of things and he wouldn’t feel too put off if someone were to confess to him publicly or something like that. It may be just a bit embarrassing, but it wasn’t something he couldn’t handle. Either way he stowed the information away into his mind for future reference.

“Yeah, that would be the most ideal way to go about it, but isn’t the point of marriage to be like giving yourself to someone for the rest of their life? People say things like that, don’t they? That they want to have you for the rest of their life or something?” He just shrugged his shoulders. He didn’t personally have too big of an opinion on it. If that’s how Kyouhei felt, that’s how it was. “Either way I wouldn’t go telling people that your life belongs to them. What if they took you seriously? How will you explain that to your future lover?”

He for one would be very upset to find out that someone he was in love with had promised their life to another. What was left for him then in that case, right?

“Ah-ah-” Dongmin probably meant ‘like’ as a general term, nothing to get so flustered about, calm down, calm down- “I’m - ergh - I don’t think you’re getting it… maybe instead of ‘like’ I should say ‘love’?”

Wait, wait, that could be mistaken for platonic or friendly love, he’d better be clear he meant romantic interest - “Love as in dating, like boyfriends, you know?” God could he be any more awkward.

“Um, you probably have more experience in casual hangouts than I do, so what would you suggest? Ouvara and Danon are big cities, there’s probably plenty to do.” As in the sister-capitals were a land of adventure.

God, Dongmin was going to give Kyouhei a heart attack with little to no effort which would be pretty embarrassing, to just keel over on the sidewalk on the cusp of his new life.

image

“Personally… personally I would like a private confession… that and if I was confessing I wouldn’t want to pressure my partner into accepting, so a private setting would be… would be better, yeah?”

That was even more embarrassing. Scratch Dongmin killing him, Kyouhei was going to do it himself. “Duly… duly noted…. I won’t say that again until I’m at the altar. If that ever happens.”

Protecting the River

friendlyoceangiant:

Mizumachi looked over the Mer with his clear blue eyes with a friendly smile on his face. It was not too often when someone would remember to come and greet him as the Master of the River. Respect was something that didn’t seem to be taught now a days. It was good to know that some out there still valued polite protocol.

“From the Bermuda Triangle, is it? That is quite some distance. The waters there more turbulent than the ones here, so you shall find it easy to get along here. Though boring it may be in comparison, the waters are friendly.”

It was the humans who weren’t so friendly, unfortunately. From what he’s seen thus far (though minuscule), the Mer was an agreeable lad. It would be just fine to allow him to take up short residence in his territory.

Motioning for the young Mer to come closer, he extended a hand, long fingers opened invitingly. If Kyouhei was going to be a guest in the territory then the current residents had to know he was welcomed. That was easy enough by giving Kyouhei a seal, which Mizumachi did by kissing the back of the hand.

“I will allow you to take short residence in these waters. Come closer to I may give you my seal proving that you are welcome here. I am the master of these Waters and most call me Mizumachi, it’s a pleasure to meet you, young one.”

Kyouhei couldn’t help but hold himself still and at rapt attention in the face of the water diety. Despite the fact that this one looked friendly as could be, he knew that diety’s often reflected their environment.

Water was an unpredictable and merciless element, and so most masters were the same, changing on a whim.

image

“Ah, it is but I felt that a change of scenery was necessary…” His general attitude was being received well, that was good! He still shied away from giving up too many details. “Thank you, I’m sure I’ll enjoy these waters.”

He offered up his hand, not quite resting it in the hand of Mizumachi but letting a little water separate the obvious warmth there, as was often more comfortable than skin-on-skin contact.

“Thank you once again. I’ll do my best to follow your example while in these waters.”

Study cards… or FUN cards?

theshadowjjang:

Dongmin thought about it and he wondered if there was some kind of a trick to this, or they just weren’t very good at this. “I feel as though the trick here is that they must be using glue or tape.” It was the only explanation that he could think of. If simply exhaling was enough to knock down the small triangle he made, how was it that card castles could stand to the test on a movie set or for a homemade video?

Moving closer on his end as well, he carefully held the cards in question and waited for him to put on the roof to give them the stability they so desired.

“Good luck to you. Give them the support they need so they can stand tall.”

He chuckled to himself.

image

“I guess it’s just like people, you can stand by yourself and try to appear strong, but ultimately you need others to keep you standing.”

Was that too deep? He was thinking of Ingong as he stared at the cards, so maybe that’s why.

If it was really something like glue or tape wouldn’t there be a lot of problems in using this as a de-stressing solution? Wait, wait, Kyouhei was at least a little sure he’d seen a video on how to do it, somewhere…. Argh.

“That’d suck for us, then. I don’t think I have glue or tape on me and I don’t see the point of going to get some if I’m just going to have to use these cards later.” He pulled a random index card up and read the formula written there with a blank face.

image

“That is… hm… Dongmin, do you normally say things like that or have you just not slept in a while?” Kyouhei was in college for physical science, not philosophy or psychology.

“Studying? What’s that?”

friendlyoceangiant:

[水] - They were like potato nuts. He was now imagining potatoes being added into trail mix for people to munch on while they were going hiking. It was full of carbs so it would give you lots of energy. Potatoes are really big though, so they wouldn’t be very travel friendly.

“Potato nuts, heh. Makes me want to replace all nuts with potatoes.”

Just to see what would happen, of course.

image

With Kyouhei’s reaction to being called short, Mizumachi was taken aback. Thinking on it, he could guess why he was upset by it. The blond has always been on the taller side, so he couldn’t really understand how anyone who was short felt about their vertical challenges. Looks like he may have offended his friend with the comment he made nonchalantly without thinking much on his words.

“Ah… sorry dude, I didn’t mean anything by it.
Just saying you were short compared to me, but lots of people are.
You’re average in height and that’s fine.
Some of the best athletes I know are your height or shorter.”

He used to look down (figuratively speaking) on people who were shorter than him, but after playing football with many teams, he started to realize that height wasn’t the only quality one needed as an athlete. Skill, heart, and strategy was needed. He didn’t see shorter athletes as being beneath him. Mizumachi respected all of them.

“Haha, I was born this way!
Though I guess drinking lots of milk would help?”

Well, if all nuts were replaced by potatoes… he wouldn’t have to worry about his allergy anymore, maybe? Wait, wait, it couldn’t be that simple, right? His allergy was something he’d always lived with and had had to take precautions against… but just removing them altogether… would his body, just on policy, develop an allergic reaction to another food?

Ah, crap, he’d snapped. Kyouhei wasn’t used to playful poking at his height and so he’d reacted defensively… Mizumachi didn’t even have anything to apologize for!

image

“Aha, it’s fine, ‘Machi, my fault for getting all prickly. I know you wouldn’t tease me about something I can’t help with the purpose of hurting me. You’re too nice for that.” Too nice and… how could Kyou say that his tall friend didn’t seem smart enough to bully someone without accidentally insulting him?

That was interesting. The brunet had never dared to get invested in any sports because one; he was short for his age all across the globe and two; sports seemed like something you needed a lot of energy and aptitude to participate in.

“Makes me think of a song, but I can’t recall it completely.” He let out a soft huff and then tilted his head back, eyebrows furrowed. “Milk, huh? Can’t say I like milk by itself all that much.”
